No need for a spoonful of sugar to make this one go down: Julie Andrews has nothing but sweet things to say about Emily Blunt playing Andrews' iconic Mary Poppins character in Disney's upcoming sequel.

"Emily Blunt is going to play Mary Poppins and I am a great fan," Andrews told Entertainment Tonight. "I think she is terrific and a perfect pick!"

The upcoming film, a sequel to the classic 1964 movie-musical, is set in Depression-era London, and stars Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Dick Van Dyke, who played chimney sweep Bert in the original but will return as a new character.

"It is not a remake of the old Mary Poppins," Andrews added, explaining, "It is making all the rest of the stories that Walt Disney had stored in his vaults and now they have made a completely new Mary Poppins story."

Disney's Mary Poppins sequel is due out Christmas 2018.
