Dubuque Native Part of National Cross Country Fundraising Race

Dubuque resident, Curt Ehlinger, has been selected to participate in a running relay from Los Angeles to New York City to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The MS Run the US 2016 Relay is a 3,100 - mile relay across America to raise awareness and funds to help CURE Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The relay begins in April 2016 in Los Angeles and is completed in August 2016 in New York City.

Curt Ehlinger will have seven days to run 176.23 miles from West Des Moines to Davenport. That’s approximately 26 miles a day for seven consecutive days! Since being selected to participate in MS Run the US, Curt has raised $36,021 to fight MS for the non-profit organization “MS Run the US.”

The battle against MS is a personal one for Curt. His mother, Penny Ehlinger, was diagnosed with MS when he was eight years old. Penny has walked 3 miles a day for over 36 years to combat the effects MS has had on her body. Now in his late forties, and inspired by his mother, Curt has become an accomplished distance runner.  His accomplishments include 12 marathons, two Boston Marathon finishes, 11 half marathons, a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon, and running a 48-mile Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim trail run of the Grand Canyon gaining and losing over 10,000 feet of elevation!

He will begin his segment of the MS Run the US Rely on June 27^th in West Des Moines and end in Davenport on July 3^rd.
